Never throw away your apple scraps again! Instead, try making your own homemade apple cider vinegar using your leftover apple scraps. It's easy, cost-effective, and a great way to reduce waste. Plus, you'll end up with a delicious and healthy addition to your pantry.
Ingredients:
- Fill 3/4 of a jar with Apple Scraps (apple peels, cores and seeds)
- 4 TBL Local Honey or Raw Sugar
- 2 Quarts of Water

Instructions:
Fill a glass jar 3/4 of the way with Apple or Pair Scraps (cores & peels)
Disolve Honey OR Sugar into Water and Stir
Pour Honey or Sugar water over the Apples
Pour Honey or Sugar water over the Apples
Add weights to keep apples submerged.
Dry jar rim
Add a paper coffee filter and secure with a rubber band or mason jar lid.
Store 3 weeks in a cool dark place like a cabinet.
Check often to make sure that all apples are submerged to prevent molding.
After 3 weeks strain apples and compost.

Pour the strained apple liquid into a clean jar and top with a coffee filter and rubber band or mason jar ring for another 3-4 weeks.
Stir every few days.

Apple cider vinegar is ready when it reaches your desired tartness. Remove the coffee filter. Pour into a mason jar with a plastic lid to seal or flip the top bottle and start using it for salads, or any recipe you like!
