The best Homemade Salsa
Healthy, easy, and delicious fresh chunky salsa really is the best! Perfect to serve with chips, over-grilled chicken, pork, or on a burger...Taco Tuesday isn't the same without salsa!
fresh Salsa all summer long
Homegrown tomatoes make the most amazing salsa all summer long. It is an inexpensive and wholesome snack made with garden veggies my entire family can't get enough of. Your mouth will be doing the happy dance!
How long will the salsa last?
At my house about 1 maybe two days! Seriously they just devour it. Store it in the refrigerator in a sealed container up to 5 days! Don't freeze fresh salsa the flavor and color will be lost, best fresh.
Ingredients
- 6 cups Roma tomatoes cored and chopped
- 2 cups bell peppers finely chopped
- 1 cup green onions finely sliced
- 2 tbsp garlic minced
- 3/4 cups of cilantro finely chopped (large bunch or two small bunches)
- 1/4 cup lime juice
- 2-3 tsp sea salt
- 1/2 jalapeno pepper finely seeded and chopped (adjust to your taste preference)
Directions
1. Wash and rinse veggies. My favorite Fruit & Veggie Wash
2. Chop tomatoes and bell peppers
3. Finely chop cilantro and jalapeno
4. Thinly slice green onions with tops
5. Combine everything in a large bowl, cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes to let the flavors blend.
Serve with your favorite chips, over burger, pork or chicken. Enjoy!
Notes
Roma or San Marzano tomatoes make great fresh salsa but any fresh ripe tomatoes will work. (more water and thinner skin won't change the taste just the texture a bit)
Short on time put everything in a blender or food processor for a quick whiz without the chopping.
Prefer more zing in your salsa add more jalapeno or a few seeds (they are zippy)!
If jalapenos irritate your skin wear gloves when cutting.
